This is the iconic Nantucket purse design. It was developed by Jose Reyes on Nantucket Island in the late 1940’s. This is the purse that rescued the dying art and gave a signature to the Island.
The Classic Nantucket Purse is finely woven of the highest quality Indonesian cane. We have designed this purse with all cherry wooden parts. It comes either with a plain lid, ready for personalization or have adorned it with a bone scrimshaw medallion. A bone closure peg and hand turned bone knobs securing the handle to the basket.
